2016-MasterChef-Junior-Online

"MasterChef" returns from its painstakingly long holiday hiatus this coming Friday night. Thus far this season, most of the noise has had to do with exiting judge Graham Elliott. Bit of a confidence-crusher for the kiddies, I'm sure.

Will Elliott's departure doom the show? Who knows? We've got a MasterChef Junior" winner to declare with the reality television odds at BookMaker.eu

This Friday night's episode, cleverly titled "Hatching a Plan," involves our surviving (if not thriving) contestants being paired off and then tasked with seeing who can make the most deviled eggs in 12 minutes. The winning team is safe from the next elimination challenge.

Deviled eggs are intricate to prepare and 12 minutes - while much longer than the average person probably thinks - can lend itself to varying results. I can see one pair pulling off a dozen (essentially one per minute) while another pair churns out 36 of them. The biggest pot wins here.

The best part of this particular project? Rumor has it that in order to discover who their respective teammate is every contestant will get to crack eggs over soon-to-be-former Judge Elliott's head. Not much of a send off. Furthermore, I bet most of the kids would rather crack them over Ramsay's head.

Little has changed odds-wise here at BookMaker, with Amaya, Avery, JJ and Sam dragging in this department, while Addison, Corey, Kaitlyn, Kamilly, Kya Lau, Tae Ho and Zac still pretty much splitting odds of +700.

Kya remains a stand-out, and the one to watch at this point. Her dishes have been exactly what the judges have been looking for, with cranky Gordon Ramsay even lavishing them with praise, and she's a team player to boot. While this may be a competition reality series, creating a team environment in a kitchen is key, and certainly something the judges are going to be looking - and rooting - for.

I also maintain that Addison has a good chance.

This Friday night's return episode will also feature Judge Tosi bringing her mom into the fold. Her mother will be presenting the next "Mystery Box Challenge," which is slated to feature all of Tosi's favorite childhood foods. In short, they best be ready to have some fun with mac 'n cheese.

Later the contestants will compete in a tag team platter challenge where using "international street food ingredients" will play a major role. Hot dogs? Chicken on a stick? Hey, your guess is as good as mine.
